British Airways has been known for being family friendly. The fact that they partnered with BRITAX to offer car seats on board is a step in the right direction.
I had heard that they also offered Bassinets for infants but thought they might be somewhat of a ‘family travel myth’. Finally, a picture of them…
One of the bloggers over at www.daddytypes.com used them for his twins on a recent flight overseas. Looks so comfortable!
Here is the official info from British Airways:
British Airways has a limited number of Britax infant seats which can be requested in advance.
- Ideal for ages from 6 months to 2 years, but can also be used from birth.
- Adjustable to a variety of positions from horizontal to vertical.
- Available for infants who weigh a maximum of 13kgs/29lbs.
- Available on all longhaul flights, except in First Class on Boeing 777/767 aircraft where only carrycots are available.
For aircraft take-off and landing and in times of turbulence, infants have to be seated on their parent’s lap using the infant seat belts we provide.
I have been giving this one a lot of thought…My babies were always with me when I travelled. I was a devoted MEDELA breastpump user so I could express milk anywhere I went.
But, there can definitely be some logistical challenges when it comes to pumping your breastmilk at the airport or even on a long haul flight. Vehicle adapters, battery packs, cooler bags- it can be a lot of gear!
I have talked to other moms though who travel without their children and bring a breastpump with them to keep up their supply or to store the milk and bring it home with them (what a great gift to bring home from your travels!)
One of my favorite bloggers has a great article on the subject of Breastpumping and Travel. Check it out http://www.deliciousbaby.com/travel/family-travel-tips/special-considerations/breastfeeding/
I also love the idea of wearing the Easy Expression nursing bra under your shirt so you can be ‘hands free’ if you need to be! http://www.tinygem.ca/baby-feeding-supplies.shtml

I loved the title of this article. Traveling with Multiples is quite an accomplishment (especially when they are really little) but the benefits of getting your kids accustomed to travel early on are great.
The author of this article, Sherry Pardy shares some great tips for Car Travel Trips with young twins.
The struggle I have with my twins is whether or not to put their car seats right next to each other (helps with passing toys, watching movies, etc.) or keep a reasonable buffer between their seats (to avoid, hitting, pulling, taunting, etc.).
Sherry’s article is on a site called Type-A Mom. www.typeamom.com
Very entertaining and informative!
Hello stay at home Dads! My husband was in your group (for 6 months anyways) and it was an invaluable experience, for both of us. There are more and more websites geared at dad’s who are at home working as domestic engineers.
Enter the world of DadLabs! This site describes itself as, “An edgy, fun and informative place for dads and the women who tolerate and/or love them. Humorous tips and advice from dads on parenting, fatherhood, children, and coping with wives and mothers. Tune in as the Dads tackle the issues of today: from breast feeding in public to head lice to poop in the tub.”
This site looks like a cross between Tool Time and the Mom Show.
Everyone has a road trip story they are just dying to share. Check out these stories of family travel (road trip video) http://dadlabscrib.ning.com/video/video/show?id=1974367%3AVideo%3A5212

I recently got introduced to www.babytv.com. Who knew there was a whole TV channel (or at least an Internet-based television network) with everything baby?
The site has compiled some great articles on Family Travel (by air, by car…even by boat). Check out http://www.babytv.com/articles/Hit-the-Road-Family-Travel-Tips.aspx?terms=travel I really liked their videos (a bit salesy but great quality) from the ABC Kids Expo. Hopefully they will be there again this week when the show kicks off in Vegas!
This morning Kathryn Bechtold from the Mompreneur Networking Group and publisher of a national Magazine, was on Calgary’s Breakfast Television. She was on promoting the Calgary Baby Show this weekend at the round up center and featuring some Mompreneur products and services.
Thank you Kathryn for highlighting One Tiny Suitcase, Calgary’s premier baby equipment rental company. We will be exhibiting at the show this weekend and I will be participating in the Mompreneur Panel Saturday afternoon to talk about running a business while raising my twins.
Check out the Mompreneur Magazine and Calgary Baby Show!
I was recently having a conversation with some of my yummy mummy friends about trips they had taken over the summer with their babies. We were swapping stories about what worked, what didn’t, and of course what new products were out there to make it all easier!
One of the favorites that we all agreed on was the Hook Chair. I swear by the Zooper’s and they both used the Inglesina. There are a bunch of these chairs out on the market right now and they make eating ‘on the road’ so much easier.
A light weight, fold able, soft seat that hooks on to most tables and eating bars. One of the moms even said she prefers using it to a high chair because it allows her baby to sit close to everyone and be a part of the ‘dinner table’.
All I can say is Ebay-it! www.ebay.ca
Visit us at the Calgary Baby Show (www.calgarybabyshow.ca) September 13 & 14 at the Round-up Center! This show is full of great exhibitors but one of my favorites has to be Tiny Gem.
Tiny Gem is a online shop based in Calgary that carries the latest and greatest products for your family. Not only is the owner a mother of 3 and a cloth diapering expert, her shop carries some of the best products for travelling families. My personal favorite is the Snack and Play Travel Tray.
This handy device has saved me on many road trips with my twins!
