We just added the new PEG PEREGO SIP Primo Viaggio (longest car seat name ever) infant car seats to our baby equipment rental inventory (www.onetinysuitcase.ca). With my former career in Health and Safety, I am always on the lookout for products that meet and exceed today’s safety standards.
It’s no secret that I am a big fan of PEG PEREGO’s products (their strollers, high chairs and infant car seats got me through the infancy of my twins) but I was very interested when I saw the new SIP infant car seats. SIP actually stands for Side Impact Protection, or extra padding around baby’s head. The seat is a bit heavier than I remember the old Primo Viaggios, but it is worth it for an extra level of protection.
Peg’s website says, “This premium car seat exceeds the most stringent Side Impact Protection safety test in the world”. Sounds good to me. I wonder if my Mini-van has that level of protection?
So, if you are headed out on to the road this holiday season make sure everyone is buckled in safely.
It is not the first time I have had this question…”How do I get myself and my baby to the airport in a taxi without bringing my car seat?” But this week I really dug into the answers for one Mom heading home to Australia for the Holidays.
Lots of families don’t want the hassle of lugging their baby’s car seat out of their car, into a taxi, out of the taxi, into the airport, etc. It is a common problem. If you need to take a taxi to the airport for departure- how do you get there without your own car seat?
There are some options: I’ve blogged about this service before (www.kidcarny.com). This New York city car serivce sounds wonderful. Professionally installed car seats, minivans with room for your stroller and parcels, trained and certified drivers. What a great way to get around!
It looks like Calgary has finally joined this trend. Kinder Car Service (www.kindercar.ca) has several levels of service that include school pick ups and drop offs, etc. The owner said they are also able to do Calgary Airport pick ups and drop offs with prior arrangements. Yippee! Finally a safe and friendly option in Calgary. Thank you Kinder Car!
These days there is a lot of talk about finding extra value when you vacation. Hotel rooms are on sale, tours are being discounted- it is a great time to take a vacation.
It got me to thinking about some of the travel values in my own city. Did you know that luggage carts are FREE at the Calgary Airport? I hate landing in a different country and having to search for the right currency in the right denomination just to get a cart for your bags (especially with two kids at my side).
How about Calgary Transit’s free fare zone? If your hotel is at one end of Calgary’s downtown and you want to go shopping on the other end of downtown, just hop on the train- for free. And just for the record, you can fit a PEG PEREGO double stroller on the train in the middle of Calgary’s Stampede!

This post comes from the heart of Hawaii. I have woken up half way through our family vacation in Maui. This trip with the kids at age 4 has been fabulous, much different than Hawaii with two 18 month olds.
One thing that has made this trip seemless is having two BRITAX car seats. The kids are used to them, they are super comfortable and extra safe.
We have been travelling on some one lane roads and winding highways. After reading about some of the head on collisions on Maui’s busiest stretch of highway- I made sure the kids had the safest carseats.
All I can say is MAHALO Britax!
