I was recently thumbing through the latest edition of Fast Company magazine (a magazine that focusses on design and creativity). To my surprise there was a very familiar image on one of the pages. An infant car seat. This wasn’t just any infant car seat though…..
The Maxi Cosi Prezi was featured in the magazine because of the use of new technology that has made it one of the safest seats on the market. After consulting with the same people that make Adult car seats for NASCAR, Maxi Cosi made a seat that uses the same safety technology. Awesome.
And of course, it looks super cool too!
I’m always on the hunt for new information about air travel safety for kids.
The FAA is pretty clear about what they recommend: “We encourage the use of child safety seats in airplanes…” If you’ve always wondered why they have not mandated the use of child seats on board an aircraft, read the rest of this press release http://www.faa.gov/news/press_releases/news_story.cfm?contentKey=1966 .
As usual, there are only a handful of airlines that are ahead of the curve in helping families travel. Check out the new pictures on Virgin Atlantic airline’s website http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/us/passengerinformation/travellingwithchildren/index.jsp. Not only do they provide skycots/bassinets for young passengers, they also provide special BRITAX car seats on board for use rear and forward facing.
The FAA has a good brochure on flying with kids too: http://www.airsafe.com/kidsafe/faa_brochure.pdf
